January News

I would like to start this newsletter with special thanks to our entire community for a wonderful holiday season. It is heartwarming to see how the community got together to celebrate the season. The New Year is here! We welcome the new families who have recently joined us or are joining us this month.

As we start the new year, I would like to remind everyone of one of the core components of our Montessori Philosophy: The respect for the child.

Montessori stresses the importance of carefully observing a child as they go about their activities. This is one of the ways we show respect for the child. We tend to jump into conclusions and step in without taking into account what our children might be doing, thinking or feeling. Instead of interrupting your child to speak your mind, practice observing and staying quiet first. Try to engage in what your child is doing before fixing anything. When you do speak to your child, make sure you look into their eyes and give them your undivided attention. (Re-written from Montessori Life Vol. 29th No. 4.) Our staff is trained to do just that. Here, your child is the priority and focus in all we do.

Wishes for a healthy and peaceful 2018 from our families to yours!
