December 7-13 2015 is “Computer Science Education Week”.
We live in a world surrounded by technology. We know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works. National Computer Science Education week was this week and MCDS joined students worldwide to participate in this event. Last year’s event had over 15 million students participate and this year we are hoping to reach more than 100 million students! Our MCDS students in grades k-3 chose from a variety of self-guided tutorials. They worked in teams to complete a coding project from the “Hour of Code” program.
During this week students around the world participates in what is called the “Hour of Code.”It is a global movement reaching millions of students in over 180 countries. Here students get a one hour introduction to Computer Science. Here at MCDS our kindergartners and Elementary students enjoyed participating in this activity.
Our Hour of Code is a statement that Montessori Country Day School is ready to teach these foundational 21st century skills. This is a chance to enhance the future of education in Plainsboro. For more details see http://hourofcode.com/us and help spread the word.
