A Message From the Principal:
Happy May!!! What a whirlwind this school year has been. Our students have been so busy exploring and working in and out of the classrooms that it is hard to believe there is only a few weeks of school left. As the school year winds down, we have been hosting Parent/Teacher conferences offering insight into our student’s day to day activities and abilities. Our 15-16 kindergarten students will receive an additional report from their teachers called their Personal Learning Plan. This is the teachers plan for where the child is headed as they take their first steps into their kindergarten year.
Our current kindergarteners will be graduating on June 10 and we are so proud of them and their accomplishments. Kindergarteners will receive their Citizens of the World certificates and t-shirts along with their certificates of completion of the kindergarten curriculum. Those participating in our Principals in Training program will receive a special leadership ribbon honoring their commitment to their role as role models. We are very proud of our student’s achievements and look forward to hearing about their future successes.
In celebration of Earth Day our Annual Ladybug Launch was a huge success! Our students participated by releasing 3,000 ladybugs into the environment. This culmination of a month of lessons and activities focusing on global awareness introduced our students to concepts including conservation, recycling, lifecycles and their part in caring for the environment. Our hope is that these lessons will reinforce the importance of community and responsibility while providing them with a sense of the world around them.
May will hopefully bring sunshine and warm weather as we still seem to be experiencing a bit of the chillier temperatures outside. Fingers crossed that the warm weather is on the way as we take steps into the final weeks of school.

Check our what is going on here at Children’s House this summer. We are excited to announce that we will host an additional week of camp so now there are 11 weeks of camp this year!
As our students continue to foster their love of learning, we invite our parents to become involved. If you have some time off reach out to your child’s teacher to schedule some time in the classroom enjoying your child’s learning process or offer to be a reading parent. We are always looking for parents who want to listen to our students read and our students are always looking to show off their reading skills to someone new! The classroom teachers can help you schedule some time for either.
As always, we love watching our students grow and embrace the power of education. Thank you again for your support and kindness and as continue our journey into 2015 we do so with great enthusiasm and passion for what the future holds!
The Childrens’ House Faculty
Don’t forget that Children’s House offers a parent referral program to families who refer students to us. If you don’t already have a coupon simply ask your friends to inform us that you referred them and we will ensure that they get a Parent Referral Coupon during their tour.
Here’s how it works: if you refer a friend who enrolls their child for 5 full days, once they have been enrolled for three full months, YOU receive one week’s tuition credit. If you refer a family who enrolls for part time (or less than 5 full days), YOU receive $100 tuition credit once they have been enrolled for a full three months. It’s that easy! Referral coupons can only be submitted at the time of registration to be valid so make sure you mention that to them. Children’s House is hosting an Open House on Saturday, August 2 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Tell your friends to mention that you referred them!
Inclement Weather Closings
Just a reminder on how to check for delays to the school schedule, early closures and school closings. I always send email notifications first. If you currently receive emails from the school, you have no need to do anything. If you do not receive emails and your child is enrolled at Children’s House, kindly contact the office so we can ensure that your information is up to date and we can get you on our enotify system for any inclement weather updates.
Check the school website home page. If there is closing information to share, it will appear in a red bar at the top of our website. If you do not see a red bar, there are no changes to note. 6 ABC News will post any changes, delays or closures on the news. Our phone message on the school answering machine will be updated as well. (Please note that in power outage situations, this may be impossible. I appreciate your understanding.)
We do our best to remain open for the convenience of our families, but safety is our priority. Should a change happen during the course of the school day, we will notify you through email and phone calls.
We encourage our families to do what they feel is the right thing for them. Erring on the side of caution is sometimes necessary. When it comes to the weather, it is difficult to predict as the day goes on. We appreciate your understanding and we will do our best to provide you with the most accurate information in the most timely fashion.
Hot lunch orders are due each week by 2:00 pm on Thursdays for the following week. See our calendar/menu tab and download a copy of the monthly menu. Circle options you choose to purchase and submit menu with selections along with payment (to Children’s House). You may purchase for the full month or weekly. If you order weekly, orders for the following week are due during the current week by Thursday at 2pm. No late orders will be accommodated.
Snack time is an integral part of our Practical Life curriculum. It is a learning experience that teaches grace and courtesy. Parents are encouraged to participate in this process by bringing healthy snacks or food, which we will use in that day’s lesson. This would include fresh fruit, vegetables, popcorn, eggs, crackers, etc. Teachers will add each family to the “snack rotation” and throughout the year, each family will be provided a snack list of items to be brought in by the family on the following Monday.
Please note, due to allergies, Children’s House invites children to celebrate special occasions with fruit or vegetables. We will not be able to serve bakery items or home baked items for the safety of our students. We appreciate your understanding.
Nuts and Peanut Butter
Due to the severity of some children’s allergic reaction to peanut butter, we request the parents’ cooperation in creating a “peanut butter and nut free” environment. Please refrain from products that are processed or made with nuts of any kind including almonds, almond butter, almond milk, cashews, peanuts, nutella, hazelnut, etc. as these items may trigger allergic reactions within our student body.
